Peter McPhee Fine Arts, 9416 Second Ave., Stone Harbor (609-368-8288) has added Rita Marandino and Chun-Yan Hilyard to their line up of artists.
Painting in the tradition of the old masters and the 19th century impressionists, Marandino creates beautiful still life, landscape and figurative paintings.
She uses the vibrancy of the paint and the brushwork to express her emotional feelings about the composition. Most importantly, in each of her paintings she strives to capture the quality of the light.
Marandino initially began her career as a teacher but eventually returned to her roots in the art field and worked as an illustrator for many of the leading companies in the party goods and giftware industry.
After 15 years, she decided to make a change and thus began her painting career.
Born in China, father, a well respected watercolor artist, was a great inspiration and influence for her and encouraged her to develop her abilities as an artist at a very young age.
She earned an art degree while still in China and her art was shown at China’s Five State Fine Art Exhibition. She was accepted as part of the permanent Collection at Ning Xia College.
She now resides with her family in New Jersey. Working mainly in pastels and oils, Hilyard employs her classically trained drawing skills along with her unique sense of composition and color to create stunningly beautiful still lifes, landscapes and portraits.
Fresh clean color and a keen focus on design and her feeling for the subject depicted are the hallmarks of her work.
