Luna Negra Danza Teatro’s distinctive style artfully blends ballet and contemporary dance movements strongly flavored by Latin and Afro-Caribbean dance forms.
Luna Negra’s repertory includes original works by Cuban-born founder and artistic director Eduardo Vilaro as well as by acclaimed Latino choreographers Ron DeJesus, Vicente Nebrada, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano, Pedro Ruiz and others.
Luna Negra also collaborates with Latino artists of other disciplines, including visual, media artists, musicians and composers which fosters cross disciplinary explorations and results in richly textured and highly original, contemporary dance theater.
They perform each year in Chicago, and tour nationally and internationally.
Past seasons include multiple performances at Ravinia Festival, The Harris Theater for Music and Dance, Symphony Center, The Dance Center of Columbia College, Dance Chicago, the Ruth Page Dance Series, and tours of Panama and Mexico.
Luna Negra Danza Teatro’s reconstruction of “There is a Time” by Jose Limon was made possible by the National Endowment for the Arts’ American Masterpiece: Dance initiative, administered by the New England Foundation for the Arts.
The Stockton Performing Arts Center offers wheelchair accessible seating, large type programs, and listening assistive devices. Please identify any needs you may have when making a reservation.
The Stockton Performing Arts Center, the Jersey Shore’s Center for the Arts, is located on the campus of The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, on Jim Leeds Road in Pomona (Galloway Township).
Just 12 miles west of Atlantic City, the center is easily accessible from the Garden State Parkway and the Atlantic City Expressway.
