Fitzpatrick’s Crest Tavern introduces “Real Beer” to Cape May County

By Steve Dunwoody

Owners Tim and Lisa Fitzpatrick proudly introduced their new cask ale beer engine on a very fitting date – St. Patrick’s Day. Located at 9600 Pacific Ave in Wildwood Crest, Fitzpatrick’s Crest Tavern is the only establishment in Cape May County to offer a traditional style brew served the intended way, according to Tim.
“The beer engine requires a little more work to maintain than a normal draught, but the end result is a much higher quality ale”, Tim explained.
The Flying Fish that is served from the new beer engine differs from mainstream brews in a variety of ways. Most importantly, the ale is unpasteurized and unfiltered. A pint of fresh Flying Fish is a little more costly than a bottle of domestic beer, at six dollars per pint, but the difference in the taste of the cask ale promises to make up for it.
“It’s all about quality over quantity”, Tim added.
Serving this ale a little below room temperature allows for the drinker to taste all the components and flavors of the beer.
Tim brought the beer engine to Fitzpatrick’s Crest Tavern because he loves good beer and wants to share his passion with beer lovers like himself. Cask ale beer engines are gaining popularity in metro areas like Philadelphia and New York and Tim believes they will be a hit in Cape May County as well. Fitzpatrick’s invites you to stop by and try a Flying Fish “the way beer is supposed to taste.”
The upgrades behind the bar compliment the comfortable family dining experience that Fitzpatrick’s Crest Tavern is known for. Whether you’re looking for family style take out, a relaxing meal outside on the patio, or a refreshing pint of cask ale Flying Fish at the bar, locals and visitors alike recommend Crest Tavern.
