East Lynne Theater Company will have two audition days of open calls for Equity actors.
On Friday, April 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the theater’s venue, The First Presbyterian Church, 500 Hughes St., Cape May.
All of the rehearsals will be in Cape May. Sign-up for auditions begin at 11 a.m. and continue through 7:25 p.m., with a meal-break from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, April 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Actors’ Equity Audition Center, 165 West 46th St., 2nd Floor, NYC.
Non-union actors will be seen as long as no Equity actors are kept waiting.
The company operates under an Equity SPT 3 contract with rehearsals beginning on Monday two weeks before the opening-performance week, and a Wednesday through Saturday night performance schedule, with two exceptions that are noted below.
Artistic Director, Gayle Stahlhuth will be at both auditions, and Karen Case Cook will be at the NYC audition.
Actors are asked to audition with a brief humorous monologue, or read from “Alice on the Edge,” “The Ransom of Red Chief,” or “The Butter and Egg Man.” Sides will be available at the auditions.
Actors are being sought for the following productions:
• “Alice on the Edge,” four provocative one-acts by Alice Gerstenberg written between 1915-1922, running from June 17-July 25 (no performance on Sat. July 4, but added show on Sun. July 5), directed by Karen Case Cook.
• “The Ransom of Red Chief,” adapted from O. Henry and directed by Gayle Stahlhuth, running from July 29-Sept. 5 (no performance on Thurs. Aug. 27, but added show on Sun. Aug. 30).
• “The Butter and Egg Man,” written by Pulitzer Prize-winner George S. Kaufman in 1925, about two producers who will do anything to get funding for their show, running from September 23-October 24, directed by Gayle Stahlhuth.
Actors wishing to mail pictures and resumes should mail to the office: 121 Fourth Ave., West Cape May, NJ 08204 – and not to the church.
