Duck Decoy, Gunning Show Set

TUCKERTON — It’s that time of year again…time to celebrate the rich history and traditions of the Barnegat Bay area with the Ocean County Decoy and Gunning Show…Sat. Sept. 29 and Sun., Sept. 30, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. sponsored by the Ocean County Freeholders and Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation.
Over 50 seminars, demonstrations and contests will be offered as well as 200 exhibitors displaying and selling items such as gunning decoys, decorative carvings, wildlife prints and photos, wildlife-themed crafts, outdoor clothing, hunting and fishing supplies, antiques and much more.
Many environmental and sportsman’s clubs will have educational exhibits, displays and information. Try your hand at skeet shooting or have a seat and be entertained as puppies and adult dogs take part in long time show favorite – the retrieving contests. Last year’s show highlight, the Delmarva Dock Dog Competition will be featured again.
And don’t forget about crowd favorite, Tim Bradley, Team Benelli USA’s Exhibition Sharpshooter hosted locally by Tip’s Hardware in West Creek. There will be scenic boat rides down historic Tuckerton Creek; live music throughout the day; and if you get hungry you’ll find everything from oysters and clams on the half shell to burgers and fries.
