CAPE MAY – Cape May welcomes you this spring with a variety of delicious tours and activities sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC). Ready for an afternoon of good spirits? Try these events that celebrate the flavors of the Cape May area’s outstanding vineyards and brewery.
Relax over a glass of wine at the Cape May Winery, 711 Townbank Road, as you treat your palate during a Winery Cellar Tour & Tasting. See how the grapes are grown and learn about the winemaker’s art while enjoying a barrel-tasting accompanied by cheese and fruit at 3 p.m. Saturdays, March 30 through May 25 and daily starting May 26. Take home a complimentary tasting glass. Purchase tickets in advance at the Washington Street Mall Information Booth or the Hill House office or the Carriage House Visitor’s Center at the Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St., during hours of operation. The event is limited; admission to the Winery Cellar Tour & Tasting is $20.
Choose a Cape May Wine Trail on April 28 and enjoy an afternoon from 12 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. that includes a delicious lunch at Aleathea’s Restaurant, Inn of Cape May, 7 Ocean St., along with trolley transportation to three of the area’s vineyards for wine tastings – Natali Vineyards, Hawk Haven Vineyard and Winery, and the new Willow Creek Winery. Admission to the Cape May Wine Trail is $75 and includes a wine tasting glass.
New in 2013 is the Hawk Haven Vineyard & Winery Tour. Taste while you tour and learn how the grapes are grown and the process that turns them into delicious Hawk Haven wines at the Hawk Haven Vineyard & Winery, 600 S Railroad Ave, Rio Grande. It’s a fun and relaxing way to enjoy a wine tasting during your tour. Tour includes a souvenir glass and gourmet cheese tasting on the vineyard-view crush pad at the conclusion of the tour. Tours are offered at 1 p.m. daily beginning on May 24. Tickets are $20.
If you prefer, explore at your own pace during the Self-guided Wine Trail. Visit Natali Vineyards and Hawk Haven Vineyard & Winery and taste the unique flavors at each. Offered daily from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $8 and includes a map with the wineries listed and a tasting glass. What’s brewing in Cape May? Some great spirits, as you’ll find out on the new Self-guided Wine & Brewery Tour of two area wineries, Natali Vineyards and Hawk Haven Vineyard & Winery, plus the new Cape May Brewing Company. Take a tour at each stop and sample some of their products. Admission is $13 and includes a map with directions. Tours are offered on Saturdays, starting March 30 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
