By Press Release

The date in this story is correct. In the May 5 print edition it was inaccurately listed as May 9.
STONE HARBOR — Peter McPhee Fine Arts, 9416 Second Ave. invites art lovers to meet the artists at the opening on May 29, from 7 to 10 p.m.
Wendy McClatchy says of her art: Vincent Van Gogh once said, ”Painting is a faith not created by hands alone, but by something which wells up from a deeper source in our souls. “For as long as I can remember, I have had an exhaustible passion for the creative process: my own as well as others.
Carol Magnatta appears to be multitasking in my approach to creating art. My work moves from watercolor to oil painting, with occasional drawing thrown into the mix to ground me. When I paint the human form, which I prefer to paint from life, I attempt to capture the quirks inherent in each model’s appearance, something beyond just a likeness
Valerie Craig is a self-taught artist, with more than twenty years in the field to date. Her oil and watercolor paintings are suffused with soft light and convey a sensitive approach.
