COURT HOUSE – Linda Gentille and The Jersey Shore Pops announced this weekend that Susan Elsayed, concert mistress for the orchestra, will play a bigger role in the 2013 Summer Concert Series next year. The conductor and musical director Linda Gentille was so impressed with the response that Susan received the last season.
“Susan recently performed a solo medley from Fiddler on the Roof at our Labor Day weekend concert and the audience was so astounded with her talent and charisma onstage that she received a standing ovation in the middle of the show!” Gentille said. “She literally kicked off her shoes before she played and kicked up the entertainment value of the show. She is an outstanding performer as well as musician which is exactly what the Pops is looking for in solo and guest entertainers to perform with the orchestra.”
Before becoming the principal concert mistress for the Jersey Shore Pops, Elsayed had an impressive performing resume. Elsayed studied with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra and earned her violin performance Bachelor`s Degree from The Philadelphia College of the Performing Arts. She was the Concertmistress of the Ocean City Pops during the 80`s under the leadership of Frank Ruggieri and currently is also violinist with the Masterworks Choir/Ensemble. Elsayed has performed as a principal violinist in the main show rooms of the casinos for such headliners as Frank Sinatra, Josh Groban. Andrea Bocelli, Tony Bennett and many other stars. She is annually a featured violinist with the Carl Granieri That`s Italian Show on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
Susan accepted the offer from the Jersey Shore Pops this week to not only continue as their very energetic and charismatic concert mistress, but to accept the offer to becoming a solo guest artist as well.
Elsayed comments, “I am so excited to have this wonderful opportunity to perform with the Jersey Shore Pops. This is the most exciting orchestra I have ever had the opportunity to perform with and our conductor is amazing at arranging wonderful orchestrations that highlight our many talented orchestra members. I am so looking forward to the 2013 season. It will be amazing and the community should certainly not miss it. No other orchestra I have ever performed with has multi-media video just like the major pop concerts. It takes this orchestra to another level similar to the Tran Siberian orchestra in high tech stage drama. There is nothing like it at the Shore.”
Elsayed’s next solo performance will be at the Pop’s next holiday concert scheduled for Nov. 17, 7:30 p.m. at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center.
