NORTH WILDWOOD — Here’s a new ‘Twist’ for the Travel Channel’s Great Weekends Show with Samantha Brown.
Brown will be filming her national travel show here at the Jersey Shore on June 29.
Cool Scoops Ice Cream Parlor on 12th and New Jersey Avenues will be featured in a Doo Wop segment. Owners Paul and Lori Russo will share their extensive collection of 50s memorabilia along with some sweet treats for the cast and crew.
Paul Russo will discuss the musical history of the Wildwoods while Samantha learns how to create a new a sundae (the Samantha Brown-e Sundae).
Filming will start at 9 a.m. June 29 in and around Cool Scoops.
Brown will get a Twist lesson from a surprise guest, the ‘King of the Twist’, Chubby Checker.
Paul Russo advises those attending to “wear your Poodle Skirt or 50s attire and come dance with Chubby. He said Checker will also introduce his new dance craze, ‘The Fly’ at the event.
Checker introduced the ‘Twist’ in Wildwood almost 50 years ago.
This Jersey Shore Episode for the Travel Channel will also include other vacation locations in Atlantic City and Asbury Park.
