Wade Preston, a singer, songwriter, composer, and pianist will be performing at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center (PAC), just off the Garden State Parkway in Cape May Court House.
Preston performs regularly as a solo artist, and most recently starred in Billy Joel’s Broadway Musical Movin Out, and is an original cast member. He stars in an exclusive one-time show at the PAC, Aug. 21 at 7:30 p.m.
With roots in classical, boogie, and New Orleans barrel house and second-line style piano playing, Wade mixes Billy Joel/Elton John vocal styles with Ray Charles passion.
His keyboard abilities are reminiscent of Keith Emerson precision mixed with the passionate abandon of Jerry Lee Lewis.
Although the concert starts at 7:30 p.m., there will be a silent auction in the lobby prior to the concert.
Proceeds from both the auction and the concert will go to Vietnam Vets Chapter 955 in Wildwood, to help bring a permanent, one-half size replica of the Vietnam Wall monument to Wildwood.
This memorial will be much like the traveling wall, except that the permanent wall will be constructed of black granite to resist the harsh weather we experience here in our coastal environment.
The manufacture, shipping, installation, lighting, maintenance, and donor recognition system puts the cost of this project at around $150,000.
The organization is committed to see this project through to its final completion.
To assist us in raising the necessary funds, Chapter 955 is offering the wall’s panels through a sponsorship process.
Any person or business who would like to sponsor a wall panel, can contact Vince at 609-780-3872 or Tom at 609-827-6253.
Each panel donation depends on size, since all panels are different sizes. Prices range from $500 to $5000. The name or business will be recognized at the Wall site permanently.
Concert tickets can be purchased by calling the PAC at 609-463-1924.
