As times change so do tastes. What was the height of fashion in grandmother’s day draws snickers from her granddaughter.
From hoop-skirted ladies and the tendency to ornament the ornaments so popular in the Victorian era, to the 1950s beehive hairdos and tailfins, to today’s over-the-top bling and pocketbook dogs, “What Were They Thinking: 160 Years of Bad Taste” looks at how styles change as the times do.
A free opening reception will be held on April 24 at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.
The exhibit runs at Cape May’s Carriage House Gallery on the grounds of the Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St. April 24 through Nov. 8.
It’s open daily; hours vary. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children (ages 3-12), or free with any tour of the Physick Estate.

Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
