The Avalon Chamber of Commerce presents their Seafood Festival, Oct. 10-11 at the 30th St. Beach, in the parking lot adjacent to the Avalon Community Hall.
On Saturday, there will be dozens of vendors selling everything from merchandise to crafts to some of the best food served at the Jersey Shore.
There will be live music from the Snake Brothers, a performance from the Joanne Reagan Dancers, a magic show for the kids, and Jerry the Stilt Walker making balloon animals for the children.
On Sunday, all of the vendors and entertainment return, plus the famous Chowder Contest, where the public votes on the winner of the best chowder at the festival.
In 2008, Sylvester’s in Avalon took home the trophy for Best Chowder. During both days, there is beer and wine available for purchase.
This year’s Seafood Festival will also include the Borough of Avalon’s first-ever Green Fair, Saturday 10 a.m.-3 p.m., with vendors explaining products and services that help make Avalon a “green” community.
The Seafood Festival has no admission charge, and there is plenty of parking near the festival site.
Proceeds of the event benefit chamber activities.
