7th Annual Celtic Festival at Historic Cold Spring Village, June 11-12

By Press Release

COLD SPRING – Enjoy all things Irish and Scottish at Historic Cold Spring Village’s 7th Annual Celtic Festival, to be held the weekend of June 11th and 12th from 10am-4:30pm. The festival includes musical entertainment throughout the grounds, interactive demonstrations and a pub area with all-day live music. The Opening Ceremony will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, led by Nae Breeks Pipes & Drums Band which is comprised of members of the Atlantic City Sandpipers. “Celtic Fest has grown to be one of our most popular and anticipated events,” says HCSV Executive Director Anne Salvatore. “The festival offers a mix of music, dancing and other traditional demonstrations that fit in perfectly with the Village, a 19th century open-air living history museum, as the backdrop.” The Village’s restored, historic buildings will also be open, with historical interpreters demonstrating the trades and crafts and the 1800s. This program is sponsored by Fitzpatrick, Bongiovanni & Kelly Certified Public Accountants.
Performances include sets by Nae Breeks Pipes & Drums Band, The Irish Balladeer Peter McDonald at the pub area, readings from the Book of Kells, traditional instruments, the NJ Blacksmith Association and ‘Past Times Present’- a lively combination of Irish-American songs and the stories behind them. Additional highlights on Sunday include traditional music by Charlie Zahm throughout the day at the Marshallville Schoolhouse and Matthew Dodd presenting kid-friendly ‘Songs of St. Patrick.’ In addition, The New Jersey Irish Setter and Rescue will join the event, with their loveable breeds to meet with visitors. The Welcome Center, Country Store, Ice Cream Parlor and Bakery will also be open, as will the Old Grange Restaurant by Tony Clark.
Weekend special events will run until mid-September. Fun and educational activities for children are featured Tuesday through Sunday from June 21st to September 4th. Historic Cold Spring Village is a non-profit Early American open-air living history museum located at 720 Route 9, three miles north of Victorian Cape May and four miles south of Rio Grande, exit 4A from the Garden State Parkway. Hours of operation are 10am-4:30pm. Admission during the season is $10 for adults and $8 for children ages 3-12. Children under 3 are admitted free.
