Join us Wednesday, April 12 at 9 am at Tabernacle UMC, 702 Seashore Rd, Erma to learn more about The Coalition Against Rape and Abuse, aka CARA, a non-profit group that counsels, supports, and advocates for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. We understand that there is no excuse for abuse and it is never your fault. All of our services are free and confidential.
CARA offers the “Safe Haven” program to shelter single women and families who can no longer continue living in their current situation due to domestic violence or threat of domestic violence. The shelter is a safe place for domestic violence survivors to go with their children, and the location is confidential.
Residents are provided with comfortable communal living in a house-like setting, counseling and support, navigating available resources, tools to secure a life of independence from violence, as well as educational, financial, and housing support. CARA also provides legal representation to male and female domestic violence survivors.
