To the Editor:
I appreciated the Herald’s Holocaust survivor story about Tova Friedman on Sept. 3 I own three books by Holocaust survivors.
A well-known survivor, Corrie Ten Boom from Holland, hid Jews with her family. The book “The Hiding Place” is her success story, although not her only one. A movie was made about her life.
“Four Perfect Pebbles” is a story written from a Jewish child’s view. Marion Blumenthal Lazan thought if she could find four perfect pebbles her father, mother, brother and she would survive. They did.
“A Nickel’s Worth of Hope” by Andre Vandenberg showed his generosity. He was from Holland. He was a teenager in a Nazi death camp. He thought hitchhiking his way through the Sahara was how to live life free.
I pray that Holocaust survivors are well-fed and find God’s mercy.
