Readers are reminded that not only are all individuals listed below presumed innocent unless proven guilty, there may also be multiple individuals who share the same name, even in the same town.
COURT HOUSE – A Cape May County grand jury handed up six indictments Oct. 8.
The abbreviation CDS below stands for controlled dangerous substance. A “certain person” charge can be brought against individuals whose previous convictions bar them from having weapons.
Matthew R. Monroe was named in an 11-count indictment, three counts of possession of a CDS with intent to distribute and three counts of possession of a CDS, all counts in the third degree. The controlled substances were cocaine, MDMA and alprazolam. There were also three counts of second-degree possession with intent to distribute within 500 feet of public property, along with a third-degree count for money laundering and a fourth-degree count for intent to distribute drug paraphernalia.
Damien Garcia and Joanna Miani were jointly named in a three-count indictment. Garcia faces a second- degree count of aggravated assault, while Miani faces two counts for second-degree witness tampering and third-degree making terroristic threats.
Aniya R. Shelton and Camryn Fashaw each were indicted on separate counts of fourth-degree aggravated assault. Fashaw alone was named in two additional counts, for third-degree resisting arrest and fourth-degree obstructing the administration of law.
Amanda M. Murray was indicted on a single count of driving while suspended. The count is in the fourth degree.
Bradley O. Powe and Kelleenna J. Taikratoke jointly face three third-degree counts for theft, theft by deception and conspiracy to commit theft.
Robert A. James was indicted on 15 counts, 10 of them second-degree counts for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a weapon, an assault firearm, and four counts of possession of a weapon while committing a CDS crime and four counts of certain person. The indictment also contained three third-degree counts for possession of a CDS, possession of a prohibited weapon, a firearm without a serial number, and money laundering. The final two counts were in the fourth degree, for possession with intent to distribute drug paraphernalia and certain person. James was convicted in 2007 of distribution of a CDS.
