Indictments Filed April 16, 2024

Readers are reminded that not only are all individuals listed below presumed innocent unless proven guilty, there may also be multiple individuals who share the same name, even in the same town.

COURT HOUSE – A Cape May County grand jury handed up eight indictments April 16. 

Isupreme Paige, Shareef Millsaps and Marshall Riddick were jointly indicted on four third-degree counts for forgery, uttering a false instrument, conspiracy and theft by deception. Paige alone was named in a fifth count, for fourth-degree shoplifting.

Agboola A. Akanji faces three third-degree counts, two for making terroristic threats and one for aggravated assault on a New Jersey state trooper.

Jeffrey D. Surgent was indicted on a count of first-degree murder for killing his mother at a senior citizen housing complex in Ocean City. Surgent, 46, is also facing a count of second-degree desecrating human remains because he decapitated his mother. Two other counts are third-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, a knife, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

Brian White, Jennifer Ryan and Miquel A. Roman were separately indicted for third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance. The drug in two indictments was buprenorphine; in the third it was cocaine.

Anthony Darden faces a fourth-degree count for causing serious injury while driving suspended.

Cherylann A. Sprouse-Banuat was indicted on a third-degree count for bad checks totaling $2,705.
