AVALON – There aren’t many places to find both sandy beaches and an ice-skating rink just a few hundred feet from each other, but this winter season, ICONA Resorts in Avalon is making this a reality. Families, and fun-loving adults, are invited to enjoy the many festivities that ICONA’s Winter Wonderland has to offer.
A$10 admission fee, which includes a pair of ice skates, gives visitors access to a full synthetic skating rink for 90 minutes of skating time. If you can’t handle the ice, there are an assortment of other exciting options to enjoy. The firepits are a nice way to keep warm at the fully outdoor complex, and the drinks at The Sandbar on-site are sure to add to the warmth. Cheerful holiday decorations give the complex a festive ambiance. The Avalon Brew Pub will be open, serving its full take-out menu to guests.
Ice skating is fully operational every weekend through the end of February, but on Saturdays through Dec. 16, local holiday vendors will bring merriment to ICONA.
ICONA Avalon kicked off the winter season with a tree lighting at the entrance of the building on November 25, where Randel Davis, the General Manager of ICONA Avalon shared appreciation to everyone for coming, as well as his hopes for making Winter Wonderland an annual tradition.
Davis emphasized that the season’s main goal was to bring people together during a time that is usually slower in Avalon. Children are especially invited to take photos with Santa on December 2 from 12 to 3 p.m.
To complete the Wonderland, ICONA invited a variety of local vendors to contribute to the event, in addition to live music, weather permitting. During the tree lighting, they had musical guest Sean Looch perform, and they expect many other guests throughout the season.
Aside from the options listed above, ICONA is open to hosting parties and special events within the compound, and they are also willing to partner with any local schools to assist them in their fundraising efforts.
ICONA Avalon is ringing in the holiday season with the classics, and there is sure to be something for every family member. Come ice skate at ICONA Avalon, located at 7849 Dune Dr., through February, and check out the holiday vendor village every Saturday through Dec. 16
