HUFANA, MARGARET E.
Margaret E. “Peggy” Hufana passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025 in North Cape May, NJ. Born Margaret Eleanor Patterson in Philadelphia on March 13, 1935 to Florence and George Phillip Patterson, Peggy was raised by her mother in Manayunk and attended Roxborough High School, along with her brother Ross and sister Kathryn. In 1955 she married Lawrence C. Hufana, who made a career in the U.S. Navy. After their son Michael was born in 1956, they lived in several locations where Larry was stationed, including Key West and the Philippines. They also lived part of the time with family in Philadelphia and in Villas, NJ. Around 1970, they moved permanently to the family home in Villas. Peggy became a secretary at Woodbine Developmental Center, where she worked for many years until retirement. Water aerobics and water walking classes were a favorite activity for Peggy, and she enjoyed gardening and making delicious gourmet chocolates. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Larry, her brother Ross, and her son Michael. She will be greatly missed by her grandson Andrew Hufana, his mother, Amy Hufana, Michael's wife Diane Hufana, Peggy's sister Kathryn Doggett and sister-in-law Nora Patterson, along with many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held at the Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery in Crest Haven. SIMMS, ROSEMARY Rosemary Rumbarger Simms, 78, of Holiday, Florida and Wildwood, New Jersey, passed away peacefully while hospitalized following a brief illness on November 28, 2025.
