HEVENER, DIANA L.

HEVENER, DIANA L.
With a heart full of warmth and a legacy of love, Diana L. Hevener, aged 75, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, in Cape May Court House, New Jersey, one day shy of her 76th birthday. A Suffern, New York native born on December 6, 1948, Diana brought joy and kindness into the lives of all who knew her.
Diana's journey led her from Mahwah, New Jersey, to Cape May County over fifty years ago, where she became a cherished member of the community. Known for her dedication and service to others, 32+ years with the county, and serving diligently as the Deputy Clerk for Cape May County where everyone became more than just friends. Her commitment to education and civic engagement shone brightly as a New Jersey School Board Association Member, Delegate, and Legislative Representative; several years as Judge of Elections in Lower Township; part of the Troop Committee, Troop 193, Townbank, New Jersey, Boy Scouts of America; and as an active member of the Republican Women of Cape May County and the Lower Township Republican Club.
Family was the cornerstone of Diana's existence. She is survived by her loving children, Ron Hevener and his wife Laura, Steven Hevener, William Hevener and his wife Victoria, Jennifer Deeney and her husband Bill; and her adored grandchildren Ronnie, Taylor, and Diana. She was a beloved sister to Mariellen MacKay and her husband Vernon, Patricia Simons and her husband Robert Simons, and Paul Pietroski and his wife Susan. Her nieces, nephews, and extended family will continue to honor her memory. Diana was preceded in rest by her devoted parents, John J. and Mary Ellen Ardoyne Kudrick, her dear husband, Chief William H. Hevener, and her sister Sharon Ponticello.
Diana's interests showcased her varied passions and caring nature; she loved crocheting, delving into books, and indulging in classic TV shows and comforting tales. Entertaining conversations on the phone, lively discussions over “trash TV” with her sisters, and her instinctive act of caring for others brought laughter and lightness into her daily life.
Remembered as the epitome of friendliness and love, Diana's soul was a beacon that guided many towards kindness and companionship. Her spirit will remain etched in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have been part of her world. Diana L. Hevener will be deeply missed yet forever celebrated.
Funeral services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, 444 E Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001.
