Harborfest Returns to Cape May on June 28

An aerial of last year’s Harborfest.

Press Release

What: A nature-focused festival on closed-off streets. Live music, educational opportunities, beer garden, and more

When: Saturday, June 28, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. / Rain date June 29

Where: Along Delaware Avenue in Cape May

Originally envisioned as a celebration of the sea, its culture, its economy and its ecology, the event has evolved to take on the flavor of a street festival showcasing all that is so very special about Cape May. Since its inception as a whaling village in the 17th Century, Cape May’s economy and culture has been linked to the sea. But with the promise comes a challenge. Harborfest is intended to heighten awareness and appreciation of this fragile resource.

Cape May’s unique harbor will provide the overall setting for Harborfest. Most land-based activities and programs will be held at or near the Nature Center of Cape May. Delaware Avenue will be closed from Pittsburgh Avenue to Wilmington Avenue to accommodate vendors, display, food trucks and a beer garden. This year, Mudhen will be the featured brewery to showcase their unique flavors.

Free activities, partner organizations and programs on the grounds of the Nature Center will include harbor beach walks and seining, touch tank talks in the aquatics lab, birding on the second story deck, children’s arts and crafts, and so much more!

As you take in the excitement, enjoy the reggae sounds of Ear Me Now, performing live on the deck at the Nature Center. Ear Me Now is a six-piece band that has been playing around the Tri-State area since the beginning of 2016. A fan-favorite in Cape May, they often play the City’s annual Free Music in the Park in Rotary Park.
