COURT HOUSE – Four Burleigh residents, including an individual arrested on March 13, were arrested on Friday, April 11, on drug charges.
Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland and Middle Township Police Chief Tracey Super announced that as a result of a search warrant executed that day at their residences, Augustine “Trina” Stesney, 59, Katlyn Williams, 29, and Amanda Conway, 35, were arrested. Also arrested was Jason Popplewell, 40.
Stesney was arrested in March for the distribution of methamphetamine and various prescription legend drugs and subsequently released on a summons.
As a result of the April 11 searches, methamphetamine and crack cocaine in an amount of less than a half-ounce and various types of paraphernalia related to the distribution of controlled dangerous substances were seized.
Stesney, Williams, Conway and Popplewell were charged with one count each of third-degree possession of a CDS. Williams and Conway were processed and released on a summons pending court proceedings. Stesney and Popplewell were lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center awaiting proceedings.
Individuals convicted of third-degree crimes are subject to a prison term of three to five years.
The investigation leading to the arrests included the Prosecutor’s Office’s Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Task Force, the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, the Middle Police department and the county’s Regional SWAT Team.
