ELDORA – Dennis Township’s volunteer firefighters battled a house fire in the 2300 block of Route 47 in Eldora on Tuesday, March 25.

Fire units were dispatched to that address at about 4:55 p.m. as automatic aid to Belleplain firefighters. The Ocean View Volunteer Fire Company deputy chief had arrived on the scene and reported a 2.5-story dwelling with smoke and fire showing.

Dennis Engine 18 arrived a short time later and stretched multiple hose lines into the building to begin fire suppression and search operations.

No details about fire damage or the building’s occupants were immediately available.

In addition to Dennisville and Belleplain, Ocean View Fire, Woodbine Fire, Goshen Fire, Avalon Fire, Marmora Fire, Leesburg Fire, Heislerville Fire, Cape May County fire coordinators, Cumberland County Fire Police, the state Forest Fire Service, AtlantiCare EMS, Upper Township EMS and the State Police were also on scene.

The blaze is under investigation by the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office.
