The Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement & Development Authority (GWTIDA) announced that disabled veterans will have their parking fees waived when they display or present a New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC) placard when entering onsite parking lots at the Wildwoods Convention Center.
“The Wildwoods and GWTIDA are grateful for the service of our military veterans. Granting free parking at the Convention Center onsite parking lots is one more small way we can honor the huge sacrifice our veterans have made to preserve our freedom,” said GWTIDA Board Chairman George Greenland.

“Atlantic County Sheriff Eric Scheffler and I continue on our mission of reaching out to all our fellow veterans via The Hope Exists Foundation and are always looking for programs large and small that we can share with Veterans,” said Steve McGee, Director of Veterans Outreach. “I’m grateful to the Wildwoods Convention Center and GWTIDA for extending this parking privilege to us above and beyond what current laws require.”
GWTIDA operates the Wildwoods Convention Center on behalf of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, the building’s owners. More than 160 events, conventions, meetings, banquets, concerts, weddings, youth sports tournaments, conventions, and trade shows take place year-round at the Wildwoods Convention Center, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors to the state and the destination. The Convention Center also is host to three state military conventions each year: the VFW, American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans Conventions.
Approximately 25 of the 700 parking spots in the Convention Center’s lots are designated handicap spaces, reserved for disabled persons to help make attendance at events or the Boardwalk stress-free. The Convention Center itself is well-equipped to accommodate disabled persons, with convenient ramps, automatic doors, handicap event seating, handicap-accessible restroom facilities, and more.
Across the street from the Convention Center is the Wildwoods Vietnam Veterans Remembrance Wall, which is an exact, half-size, black granite replica of the official Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. It has the 58,913 names of our country’s fallen heroes from the Vietnam War etched on its panels and stretches for 240 feet along the sidewalks of Columbus Park.
