DENNISVILLE – Dennis Township fire units used a jaws-of-life tool to extricate injured occupants of a car that hit a guardrail and tree near Route 47 and Petersburg Road on Sept. 4, authorities said.
At about 1:55 p.m., Dennis fire units were dispatched to the scene and found a Ford sedan off the roadway through the guardrail, resting just shy of Johnson’s Pond, also called Dennisville Lake, authorities said.
According to information released by the Dennis Volunteer Fire Company, some occupants were still in the vehicle when they arrived. Dennis Squad 18 utilized a jaws of life to remove the rear door to get to them and assisted EMS personnel in removing them.
The driver and two passengers were injured, State Police said, and two medical helicopters were requested. Ladder 18 responded to Union Cemetery and established a landing zone for the helicopters, which then flew the two passengers to an area hospital. The driver was transported by ambulance to a hospital.
The northbound lane of Route 47 was closed for about an hour while crews were at the scene.
