DELANEY,
HAROLD LUIGI
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Harold “Butch” Luigi Delaney, age 70, of Ocean View, New Jersey. Butch passed on October 4, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
Butch was born on December 18, 1954 in Alexandria Bay, New York to George and Helen Delaney. He graduated from Burlington County Vo-Tech in 1972 and went on to proudly serve in the Air Force from 1974 to 1980 where he became an Air Traffic Controller. Between his years in the service and his time working for the FAA, Butch spent over 33 years as a dedicated Air Traffic Controller.
In 1981, Butch began his FAA career at the New York Air Route Traffic Control Center on Long Island where he worked for 5 years. Butch then received his dream location at the Atlantic City Airport where he worked until his retirement in 2008. Butch will be remembered as a wonderful mentor, trainer, and colleague to those who had the pleasure of working with him over the years. In his retirement, Butch enjoyed volunteering for The Cape Regional Medical Center (Cooper Cape) and hanging out poolside with his family and friends. Butch also loved to spend time with his cat Clyde, who was his faithful companion.
Butch had many hobbies including his Wheelhorse tractor, CB radio, RC cars, and his impressive collection of Hot Wheels. Butch was a Corvette enthusiast, loved hosting pool parties, and enjoyed playing golf with his friends. Butch loved to keep his mind sharp and his schedule busy, but what he truly loved was the community of people that came along with these hobbies. He cherished the friendships that he made along the way.
Butch is survived by his wife Linda (nee Adams) and would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on October 30th. Throughout their happy marriage, Butch and Linda raised two sons and had many adventures including white water rafting, camping in Cherrystone Campground and Hershey Park, and riding dirt bikes. Butch was a proud “Nonno,” and he loved spending summer nights on the Wildwood Boardwalk riding the tram car and eating pizza with his grandchildren.
Butch is also survived by his two sons Michael and Kevin, his daughters-in-law Rory and Jackie, and his 5 grandchildren Hayley, Charlotte, Andrew, Henry, and Samantha whom he adored. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Helen.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Ave, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The American Red Cross.
