Hey there, party people! I’m back with another great band at another happening place. This beloved locals’ favorite has gone by many names over the years. In 2016 the space gained its now-famous name, Harpoons on the Bay. This bayfront property that makes you feel much farther away from home than you are. It’s tucked away just around the corner from the Cape May Lewes Ferry. It has panoramic views of the bays and watershed of Cape May and the Delaware bay estuaries. The scenery is unmatched.

As you would expect they have a full menu of mouth-watering seafood options. There is an endless supply of tuna and shrimp in all of its beautiful forms. For the non-seafood friendly eaters, they have something completely different. They have great shareables like their Harpoon’s grilled chicken wings or southern fried pickles. I decided to try the Thai Peanut Chicken Wrap. It was truly delicious!
The deck is full of tables so you can grab a bite while you’re waiting for the entertainment to start. If you are more of a sun worshiper, you can grab a table along the outside or stay cool under the canopy of their giant awning.
Harpoons on the Bay is open every day until about 9 p.m. depending on their crowd. They serve brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

In case I haven’t already sold you, let me tell you about the music. I was lucky enough to catch John Wood. This is a young man that knows what he’s doing. He looks like your true Jersey shore surfer type with a little bit of a rock and roll. This kid can play. His sound is a little bit folk, mixed with a little bit of surf rock. That means jangly guitars and easy-going melodies. His feel-good vibes will definitely have you toe tapping along. He plays some incredible covers of songs everyone knows and loves.
The thing that will make you want to get out and catch this kid around town is his original music. He has these fun playful songs that leave you reminiscing on old and new memories. The way he weaves in and out of the covers he performs and his original music will leave you awestruck. The timing and tempo build the fun all the way through the evening.
A quick look online and you can find all of his original music. He had an EP “Garden State” released last year, with a few more released since. You can find John and his band (Local Noise) all over South Jersey all summer long. You are not going to want to miss this one. Make sure to check out his Instagram account or his Spotify page to find out where he’s playing next!
Tell him Do the Shore sent you!
