WILDWOOD CREST – Veterans Committee Chairman Mike Marino presented the borough with the New Jersey Governor’s “We Value Our Veterans” Community Award on Veterans Day in Holmdel.

Marino told the Board of Commissioners that Wildwood Crest and three other communities in the state received award, which he said gives municipalities, businesses and academic institutions the opportunity to honor veterans.

To receive the award, Marino said, the Crest had to complete certain initiatives: create parking spots for Purple Heart recipients, disabled veterans and Gold Star families; promote veterans discounts at businesses or promote their creating discount booklets; hold Memorial Day and Veterans Day services honoring veterans, and list mental health services for veterans on the municipal website.

Marino gave his personal commendation to the borough, saying, “The municipality’s commitment to recognize veterans is commendable.”
