The Borough of Wildwood Crest updated some parking-related ordinances to allow for more parking spaces for low speed vehicles – or golf carts – and motorcycles.

WILDWOOD CREST – The borough commissioners have adopted ordinances creating new parking areas for golf carts and motorcycles and imposing or removing parking restrictions on certain streets.

Ordinance 1418 establishes three new parking areas dedicated only for golf carts and motorcycles. The first is a 12-foot parking space on the north side of Stanton Road, beginning 19 feet west of Ocean Avenue. The second is a 13-foot space on the south side of Stockton Road, at the easterly terminus of Stockton Road, and the third is a 12-foot space on the south side of Louisville Avenue at the eastern terminus of the road.

Mayor Don Cabrera said the ordinance removes parking for vehicles in those areas to allow for safer access for people parking bikes and pulling in and out of adjacent properties. Cabrera said the borough was also getting requests for more beachfront parking for golf carts and motorcycles.

Ordinance 1419 allows parking on the north side of Toledo Avenue from Atlantic Avenue to its easterly terminus. The ordinance removes no-parking provisions on Louisville and Nashville avenues from Atlantic Avenue to their easterly terminus to allow for the new golf cart/motorcycle parking space on Louisville Avenue.

Ordinance 1420 restricts parking in certain areas of the borough at certain times. The ordinance establishes a two-hour parking limit in all parking spaces between Wisteria Road and Columbine Road, and all parking spaces at the Crest Tennis Courts.

The ordinance also prohibits parking at the Joseph Von Savage Memorial Pool between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. daily. Cabrera said the restrictions would also limit parking in the library parking lot and prevent people from using the pool lot for overflow parking.

The three ordinances were adopted by the commissioners on Dec. 20.
