Art and Peg West have owned Westy’s (now we know the derivation of the name) Irish Pub for 13 years now, and locals and visitors alike know that it’s one of those pleasant afternoon or evening spots at which friends like to gather when they’re in the Wildwoods.
Located at 101 E. Walnut Ave., North Wildwood (609-522-4991), Westy’s is a casual Irish Pub with Irish beer, Irish whiskey, Irish music…
“But not all Irish music all the time,” Art said. “We have a variety of small bands that play here, and many are not Irish, like Cindy Raymond.”
Entertainment abounds at Westy’s, with DJs, quizzo, steel drums, and every Thursday on the deck is Jimmy Buffet night, with $1.99 cheeseburgers and (what else) Jimmy Buffet music.
The upstairs deck overlooks the ocean, so you can relax and watch everything from waverunners to ships on an ocean voyage.
From their Web site (http://www.westysirishpub.com/):
…a hamlet to the hearts of many serving great food and drinks with nightly entertainment. This is a special place in the eyes of those attached to the Wildwoods, a place that warms you up year-round. Overlooking the beautiful Hereford Inlet, an Irish Pub with the atmosphere and ambience that will make your visit to the Wildwoods a place that you will want to keep coming back to.
In the Heart of North Wildwood’s entertainment district, Westy’s has become the favorite for both visitors and locals alike.
Westy’s host’s and participates in events such as the countries largest Irish Festival, the Italian Festival, The New Jersey Barbeque Championship and the most successfully anticipated Philadelphia High School Reunions.
But hey, you can just come here to enjoy our ice cold beer and one of our many sandwiches or platters. Have fun, enjoy…that’s what we are about!
Westy’s is perfect for casual family breakfast, lunch, or dinner, but it’s also a great venue for couples later in the evening.
And it’s not just entertainment that draws people to Westy’s.
“You can sit down here and have a full lobster dinner while the person next to you can have a cheesesteak,” Art said.
“And people flock here for our prime rib. We run prime rib specials on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday for $10.99. Our motto is, ‘$10.99—are they out of their mind?’
“Sometime, I think I am,” Art mused.
Monday is chicken parm night.
“It’s quite large,” Art noted.
Starting at 8 a.m. you can get a full breakfast on the patio at Westy’s.
“Even order a mimosa or Bloody Mary,” said Art. “Or a bottle of beer if you like.”
Breakfast is served until 1 p.m. Dinner until 10 p.m., and great bar food (I’m goin’ for the mozzarella sticks!) until 2 a.m.
If you think it’s getting too late to sample Westy’s, don’t worry; they’re open year round.
So if you want to meet the friendliest bartenders and wait staff, and a really great kitchen staff (Ken and Jim at breakfast, Dominic during the day, and Jimmy and Frank at night), and just enjoy good, ol’ Jersey seashore atmosphere, visit Westy’s Irish Pub.
And no…they’re not out of their minds.
Just friendly.
