The Wranglers 4-H Club members participate in the Cape May County 4-H Equine Program. We are part of a community of young people across America who are learning leadership, citizenship and life skills through a variety of equine activities. Kathleen DeGenove, President, Michaela Hearn, Vice-President, Chloe Pinkerton, Treasurer, Lily Capone, Secretary, and members Courtney Bower, Ragan Capone and Annabella Halbruner all work together throughout the year forming a strong bond of friendship while accomplishing many equine activities.
This year, we had the opportunity to attend three seminars prepared for the 4-H clubs by our Horse Council. These educational seminars included “An Equine Experience as Vast as the Western Skies” by 4-H Alumna, Dakota Lewis; “An Introduction to Carriage Driving” with Jessica Axelsson, 4-H Alumna; and an “Equine Skillathon” for all ages.
We completed our community service this year by participating in a large group effort to plant dune grass and clean up the beach. We spent the morning on the Avalon Beaches giving back. Thank you, Avalon Garden Club, for the invitation to join you! We had perfect weather and it was just a wonderful day.
Our 4-H club invited Jessica Bingaman of Chestnut Bay Massage and Equine Bodywork to one of our 4-H meetings. She gave us an introduction to horse massage therapy. Melissa Bingaman of Chestnut Bay Designs and Photography also joined us for an evening of learning.
4-H club members volunteer at the annual 4-H Horse Council Golf Tournament/Fundraiser which is held the end of April at the Avalon Golf Club in Cape May Court House. The amazing teamwork made the day a great success, and money raised helps keep the 4-H barns and riding arena in tip top shape.
On June 3, we attended and helped run the 4-H Qualifying Horse Show. This gives members a chance to qualify for the New Jersey 4-H State Horse Show in August at the Dream Park in Gloucester County.
Last but not least, we are all looking forward to participating in the annual Cape May County 4-H Fair on July 19, 20 and 21 in Cape May Court House. Come visit and make this year the best fair ever. Don’t forget to come back and visit the Wranglers 4-H Club, and the horses and ponies!
Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
