WOODBINE – The Cape May County Library is presenting, at the Woodbine Branch, 800 Monroe  Street, Woodbine, a lecture about the rich history of Woodbine, given by  Lawrence Levy, the official Historian for the Borough of Woodbine. The lecture will be held Oct. 28, 2017, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Lawrence is the son of Arthur and Mary Levy and the grandson of Barnett and Ida Breslow. Barnett and Ida Breslow were the original first settlers of Woodbine. Larry grew up in Woodbine, where he went to the elementary school and then attended Millville High School. While growing up, Larry worked for Siegel Brothers grocery store in Woodbine. When he moved to Millville in 1959, he married his high school sweetheart, Eleanor Saul Levy. Larry worked for Armstrong Corporation as a glass worker and was there until the factory closed in 1999. He was the Woodbine representative for the American Legion Post in Boys State. He has worked with the Historical Society of Cape May County and the Sam Azeez Museum of Woodbine Heritage.
“As our official Historian, Larry has a wealth of background information on the history of Woodbine that we are proud to have him share at our local County Library Branch here in Woodbine,” added Mayor Pikolycky. ”His ancestors had much to do with the shaping of the community as we know it today.”
