Wildwoods celebrate Christmas in July

By On Deck Staff

You don’t have to wait until December to enjoy Christmas festivities; celebrate Christmas in July with the 21st Annual Christmas in July Boat Parade July 18 starting at 7:30 p.m.
Since 1988, residents and visitors of the Wildwoods have enjoyed this spectacle of lights and sounds that brings the spirit of Christmas to the Intercoastal Waterways in the middle of the summer.
Year after year, the displays get more extravagant. Christmas-themed boats of all shapes and sizes will be competing for the title of best decorated, best lighted, and comic division.
Also included in the Christmas-themed competition will be residential houses/docks and commercial buildings/docks that are located directly along the waterways on the parade route.
Line-up is in Beach Creek by Sunset Bay Restaurant in North Wildwood between 7-7:30 p.m.
The parade starts promptly at 7:30 p.m. heading south through Otten’s Basin, continues south-west into Hoffman Channel and head into Grassy Sound, heads back south into Richardson Sound and turns north-east into Post Creek to Post Creek Basin, past Bridgeport Marina.
The boats then head back out Post Creek into Otten’s Harbor past Hayes Waterway Marina, turns back and heads past the Wharf towards the center span of the George Redding Bridge.
The parade then turns slightly east towards Urie’s Waterfront Restaurant, the Boathouse Restaurant, the Silver Bullet and Beach Creek Restaurant, then past Schooner Island Marina and heads south past Ephraim Island into Sunset Lake in Wildwood Crest, where the parade ends, around 9:30 p.m.
The winners will be announced by noon, July 19.
