WILDWOOD — For over 60 years, the Wildwood Rotary Club has served the community and spearheaded many initiatives to benefit the Wildwoods. In 2014, the Wildwood Rotary Club members voted to focus their efforts in support of the Arts and Music programs at the various schools on the island. “It’s no secret that art and music come under attack when school budgets are prepared,” said Jodie DiEduardo, President of the Wildwood Rotary Club, “so we wanted to see if we could make a difference for the teachers and students.”
In Feb. 2014, the Rotary sponsored a Beef and Beverage Fundraiser at the Bolero Resort to raise funds for arts and music at Wildwood and Wildwood Catholic High Schools. Almost 200 people attended contributing in excess of $2,000 for the high schools. “With the money, the Wildwood Rotary Club purchased jackets and gloves for the band students at Wildwood High School,” stated DiEduardo. According to Jodie, the fundraiser was such a success and so well supported by residents and businesses, that the Rotary Club is preparing its Second Annual Fundraiser for the Arts and Music in 2015.
The Wildwood Rotary Club is clearly making a difference in our community with some very creative ideas. In addition to their arts and music emphasis, the group delivers “Complete Thanksgiving Dinners” to deserving local families, sends high school students to the statewide Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program and several Club members are active in the Greater Wildwood Scholarship Fund (GWSF), which provides financial aid to graduating high school seniors from the Wildwoods.
