Widespread Power Outage Affects Much of County

UPDATE – According to Atlantic City Electric, the outage, which lasted approximately 2 hours, was caused when a snake ventured into the substation.
INITIAL REPORT – A widespread power outage occurred at 11:07 Monday morning, affecting almost 6000 customers, according to Atlantic City Electric spokesperson, Sandra May. As of 11:50, response crews were still investigating the cause and “working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible,” said May.
The Atlantic City Electric website provides a map, displaying an indication of outages and associated impacts. This map is generated by information received when customers call to report an outage. The map can be found at www.atlanticcityelectric.com/home/emergency/maps/stormcenter.
