WEST CAPE MAY – Volunteers in Medicine of Cape May County (VIM) opened a thrift store last fall to generate money to offset the cost of care at the Medical Clinic. VIMspirations is now in its fourth month and continues to do well.
Sandy Gott, Board Chair, said, “The store always looks great, we have a fabulous team of Volunteers and continue to be awed by the generosity of the community with their donations.”
Donations have been so strong that VIM is planning their first sale for President’s Day Weekend. On Feb. 15, 16 and 17 shoppers will be sold a blue bag for $5 and can take home as much stuff as fits in the bag. The store will stocked with winter clothes for the sale. Anne Marie Jackson, Store Manager, is looking forward to clearing out her winter items to make room for Spring and Prom Gowns.
VIM provides free health care to the uninsured working poor of Cape May County. Thanks to generous support from the community, VIM has been able to treat more than 4,000 patients with 24,000 cumulative visits, all at no charge, since opening day more than eleven years ago. In Cape May County 1 in 5 people lack health insurance. The need for VIM’s services continues to grow. The VIM Board of Trustees encourages the community to shop at VIMspirations, as all proceeds benefit the VIM Clinic.
VIMspirations is located at 600 Park Blvd, next door to Artizan’s Salon and Spa, and is open Tues. thru Sat. from 9-5 and 11-3 on Sundays. For more information on VIM’s services, or to volunteer or donate, call 609-463-2846, or visit www.vimcmc.org.
