County Library Hosts Family Movies
The Cape May County Library invites children ages 6 to 12 and their families to attend our Family Movie program. A screening of Smurfs 2 will be held at 6:00 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Main Branch of the library, located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House. There will be another screening at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 25 at the Lower Cape Branch, located at 2600 Bayshore Road in the Villas.
Kids ages 6-12 and their families are invited to watch the movie Smurfs 2 on our big screen with surround sound. Gargamel is back, and this time he’s sending the Smurfs on a wild adventure through Paris in this globe-trotting sequel. Determined to harness the magical essence of the Smurfs, wicked wizard Gargamel creates a diminutive race of mischief makers known as the Naughties. But in order to get the results he’s looking for, Gargamel will need to get his hands on a genuine Smurf. Enter Smurfette, the only one of her kind who knows the spell that can transform Naughties into actual Smurfs. Having recently shot to fame in Paris due to his impressive magical powers, Gargamel kidnaps Smurfette, and sweeps her away to the City of Light. With Papa Smurf and company hot on his trail, however, the scheming wizard quickly realizes that executing his diabolical plan will be easier said than done. The Cape May County Library Hosts Cooking Demo
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “Cape Cuisine: Cooks Pizza” presented by Chef Mark Kalla at 1:00 p.m. Jan. 25. The program will take place at the Cape May Court House Branch Library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
Chef Mark Kalla will demonstrate the aspects of preparing and cooking different types of pizza. Learn about what kinds of foods can be used to upgrade any pizza such as cheese, meats, and other unique types of toppings. Participants will be invited to sample the foods that have been prepared.

County Library Offers Advanced Computer Class
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “My Third Computer Class” presented by the Technology Learning Center at 10:00 a.m. Jan. 27 and again at 2:00 p.m. Jan. 27. The program will take place at the Main Branch of the Library located at 30 Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
We have learned the basics of using a computer and how it works, now it’s time to take it to the next level. In this class we will show you a few concepts on how to use your computer like a pro. You will also learn how to do basic computer tasks, from finding your way around the computer to going online. This will be in a Windows based setting.

County Library Hosts Bracelet Workshop
The Cape May County Library invites the public to join the “Wire Cuff Bracelet Workshop” presented by Adrienne Barge at 1:00 p.m. Jan. 28. The program will take place at the Cape May Court House Library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
Come and be intrigued by what you can craft with jewelry tools, a little wire, and beads. Join us for a class in wire bending and wrapping techniques to create a wire cuff bracelet. In order to participate in this workshop, participants are required to bring in their own tools. Tools required include sharp nosed jewelry pliers, round nosed jewelry pliers, and cutters.

The Cape May County Library invites the public to join “Locus of Control: External vs. Internal” presented by Margaret Linn of Cape Counseling at 6:00 p.m. Jan. 29. The program will take place at the Cape May Court House Library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
Participants will understand the orientation of “Locus of Control” as well as tips and benefits of developing an internal locus. Participants will learn how to adjust their locus of control when the situation arises (dealing with random events), and use those experiences to create success in the future.

County Library Hosts Beginner Watercolor Art Course
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “Fearless Watercolors for Beginner Painters” instructed by Sue Rau. This six week course will begin at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 31. The program will take place at the Cape May Court House Library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
This class is for new painters or painters who have some experience. We work at a slow pace which is individualized for you. Learn about color theory, how to get paper, paint, and water together without fear. Have some fun in a new experience. Give watercolor a chance!
Required materials for this class include paints (Burnt Sienna, Permanent Rose, Ultramarine Blue, and Aureolin or Grumbacher Yellow), brushes (#8 Round, #12 Round, #1 Rigger or Liner, and Large Flat for washes), 140 lb. paper, drawing paper, pencil, palette, water container, tracing paper tablet, paper towels, masking tape, board or foam core, and kneaded eraser.

The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “How to Spot Hawks and Eagles” presented by Clay and Pat Sutton at 6:00 p.m. Feb. 3. The program will take place at the Cape May Court House Library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
Clay & Pat Sutton’s program is based on their popular book by the same name. They will share their love of hawks and eagles and the “how to’s” for finding, studying, and enjoying these fascinating birds of prey. They will bring to light the many Cape May connections. County Library Hosts Crochet & Felting Class
The Cape May County Library invites the public to join “Crochet, Felt, & Sew” presented by Jennifer Bolton at 12:00 p.m. Feb. 6. This four week program will take place at the Lower Cape Branch Library located at 2600 Bayshore Road in the Villas.
Participants will learn how to crochet, felt, and sew by crafting either a small purse or an eye glass case. Each technique will lead into the next, and by the end of the class not only will you have a finished product but you will have learned how to use 3 different techniques. Students will need to bring one skein on non-washable wool (make sure it cannot be washed otherwise it will not felt), size J hook, large eye sewing needles, and scissors.

The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend a viewing of the Ron Howard’s film Rush. The program will take place at the following dates and places:

This biographical drama shows Formula One drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda during the 1970s, at the peak of their heated rivalry. Both on the track and off, Hunt and Lauda couldn’t have been more different. Yet as much as Englishman Hunt’s showy public persona clashed with Lauda’s reputation for tightly-controlled perfectionism, both men remained bound together by one undeniable fact — they were both among the best drivers ever to grace the racetrack. When a horrific crash during the 1976 Grand Prix at the Nürburgring nearly claims Lauda’s life, however, a grudging respect begins to develop between the two racers as Hunt realizes just how devoted his greatest adversary is to the sport they both love.

The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend the “Beaded Valentine Bracelet Workshop” presented by Betty Tocci. The program will take place Feb. 13 at 4:30 p.m. at the Woodbine Branch Library on 800 Monroe Street in Woodbine.
If you are interested in basic jewelry, beading techniques, and creative thinking, then this class is for you! Create a very simple, yet beautiful piece of jewelry to wear everyday or special occasions. At the end of this workshop, participants will have a completed beaded bracelet ready for Valentine’s Day.
Betty Tocci has been beading most of her life. She found she needed to learn how to do a variety of different jewelry when her husband built a store at their bison ranch and needed unique things to sell. Betty knows every woman loves one of a kind jewelry, and enjoys sharing her passion of jewelry making.

The Cape May County Library invites the public to join monthly interpretive nature walks. This month will feature “Winter Ecology Part II” presented by Sam Wilson of the Nature Center of Cape May at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 15. The program will take place at the Upper Cape Branch Library located at 2050 Route 631 in Petersburg.
The Nature Center of Cape May will present a nature walk series for all ages on the third Saturday of each month, from Oct. through March. This month, Sam will focus on the winter ecology found outside of the library. Participants are encouraged to bring their own binoculars. There will be a limited quantity available.

County Library Hosts Acrylic Painting Workshop
The Cape May County Library invites the public to join “Acrylic Painting” presented by Jill Cucci-Smith. This six week program will begin Feb. 15 at 1:30 p.m., and will take place at the Upper Cape Branch Library located at 2050 Route 631 in Petersburg.
This painting class will cover topics such as designing a strong composition, using contrast, texture and color in combination, and much more. Our first class will concentrate on color mixing. All levels are welcome as we will start from the basics and if you have more experience, you can work at your own pace! You may paint from still-life or landscape images you bring. We will concentrate on realism; at the same time, various other painting styles may be explored. You will need acrylic paints. A bottle of large white is needed as the one in the starter kit is too small. You will also need brushes of various sizes, various size canvas, sketch pad, or paper.

County Library Hosts Portraiture Art Class
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “Portraiture in Oils” presented by Cheryl Crews. This six week course will begin Feb. 20 at 12:00 p.m. The program will take place at the Sea Isle City Branch Library located at 4800 Central Avenue in Sea Isle City.
Cheryl Crews instructs the fine art of painting portraiture in oils. This course is for ambitious artists who seek to learn classical and contemporary techniques and a broad approach to portraiture in oils. Hard work is required, but the reward is an exceptional one.
Required list of materials includes a human photo image for reference (at least 5″x7″), at least one 14″ by 18″ or 16” by 20” canvas, drawing pad of equal dimensions to canvas, neutral palette (recommended), and whatever oil paints you have. Color palette suggestions will be offered during first class.

County Library Hosts Mosaic Craft Workshop
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend the “Mosaic by Michele: Create a Mosaic Picture Frame” presented by Michele Pasciullo. This two day workshop will be held Feb. 22 and March 1 at 10:00 a.m. This program will be held at the Wildwood Crest Branch Library at 6301 Ocean Avenue in Wildwood.
Use the technique of mosaic to create a stained glass panel without all of the cutting and soldering. Make a colorful geometric design to catch the light in a sunny window. The first week of this two week workshop will be planning and gluing. The second week will be grouting and finishing. Learn everything you need to make a unique piece of mosaic art.

With the grey of winter giving way to longer sunnier days and tell tale signs of catalogs and flower shows before you know it, spring will be here. This is the time to get a jump on this year’s gardening season. Planning, preparing and pruning are among the first steps to improving last year’s performance in your gardens. Come learn some fundamental principles of gardening, including soil amendments, disease and pest management along with basic pruning techniques necessary for a successful year for the landscape and gardens.

County Library Hosts Cape Counseling Seminar
The Cape May County Library invites the public to join “Stress Reduction Techniques” presented by Margaret Linn of Cape Counseling at 6:00 p.m. Feb. 26. The program will take place at the Cape May Court House Library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
Participants will learn how to develop and utilize techniques of visual imagery while using five sensory organs (eyes, nose, ears, tongue, and skin). They will also learn the techniques of deep breathing and how shallow breathing limits oxygen intake and adds further stress to the body, thus creating a vicious cycle. Participants will learn how to clear the mind of extraneous thought, and gain control of their emotions. The benefits of setting aside time in their daily routine for meditation will also be taught. Hotmail is one of the first web-based email services, started in 1996. It has expanded its offerings to bring you document and data storage, online Office web Apps and more.
