Tink Haldeman Run benefits Shriner’s

By On Deck Staff

The AOH Tink Haldeman Memorial 5k Run-1 Mile Walk started in 2003 through the AOH (Ancient Order of Hibernians) and the Irish Fall Festival. The proceeds are donated to the Philadelphia Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
Shriner’s Hospital is special to the Wildwoods because of the many wonderful doctors, nurses and very special people there who have taken care of youngsters like 9-year-old Owen Haldeman, whose family operates Owen’s Pub.
Owen was approved for care there when he was seven months old and has since had three hand operations, many checkup, follow-ups, and great loving care, all sponsored through the Shriner’s.
Shriner’s takes care of many children who really need Pediatric Specialty Care for orthopedics, burns, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate.
Another important part of this Run–Walk is the Memorial Run in the name of Michael & TJ Haldeman’s Father—Tink, who passed away in 1997.
“A bad day at the shore is better than a good day at home,” Tink was fond of saying.
His love for the shore started when he was just a baby and continued when he become a lifeguard on the beaches of North Wildwood, where he met his wife, Mary.
This run here at the shore is perfect for remembering Tink.
Sponsorships for the run start at $25 and can go up from there. For your sponsorship you will receive a Memorial Run t-shirt with a list of all the sponsors on the back.
If you would prefer to join the Run-Walk with us for a $15 donation, you will get a t-shirt and medal.
This is a chance to make a difference in children’s lives and have a little fun too. The Run-Walk will take place Sept. 26 at 8 a.m.
You can come into Owen’s Pub, on 17th between Central and New Jersey aves. to sign up for the run or to make a sponsorship donation.
