WILDWOOD – For many, it’s a yearly pilgrimage – for some, it’s a first time excursion – for all involved, it’s one of the best weekends of the year. The Roar to the Shore Motorcycle Rally is back and set for Thu., Sept. 6 through Sun., Sept. 9. The city of Wildwood will play host to the largest free motorcycle rally in the northeast, with free live entertainment, motorcycle vendors, food and merchandise vendors and great events all weekend long.
Roar to the Shore thrives in the Wildwoods, NJ because of its centralized location on the East Coast. Located 150 miles or less from most major cities including, Philadelphia, New York City, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. there’s no need to trailer your bikes to this rally. Once you are here, you can sit back, relax and enjoy the festivities, or take a ride along the scenic roads of Cape May County. Stroll through hundreds of national vendors distributed throughout five separate vending lots peddling everything from cigars to leather to jewelry to motorcycles. Whether you’re looking for motorcycle parts, paint or patches, you’re guaranteed to find what you’re looking for here.
Also, during the rally and back for its third year is the Wildwoods Tattoo Convention and Show held inside the Wildwoods Convention Center. Stop by and check out some world-famous tattoo artists, get a new tattoo or just sit and see some one-of-a-kind art in the different tattoo contests throughout the convention.
Roar to the Shore still has your old favorites on tap; including, the Friday Pig Roast at Kindle Ford at noon; Walking Poker Run on Sat., Sept. 8 at noon; the Biker Babe Contest on Saturday at 7 p.m.; and the favorite Rubber Duck themed Boardwalk Motorcycle Ride with a 2012 Harley Davidson 1200 Custom Sportster giveaway on Sun., Sept. 9 starting at 12:30 p.m. All proceeds from the ride go to benefit the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.
New for 2012 are the Battle of the Biker Bands and the Custom Boardwalk Bike Show. Bands from all over the tri-state area have entered to play in the Inaugural Battle of the Biker Bands, but only 10 were chosen to rock out for the Roar to the Shore audience. With semi-final rounds, held on the Wildwoods Convention Center Lot Stage, Fri., Sept. 7 and Sat., Sept. 8 – a combination of judges’ scores and audience participation will send the top four to the final round on Saturday night for the chance to win $3,000 in cash as well as other prizes.
The Custom Boardwalk Bike Show is also a two-day event. A pre-show Fri., Sept. 7 will be held starting at 6 p.m. at the Pacific Avenue Block Party for all motorcycles registered in Saturdays show. At the Block Party, bikes will line the streets in the hopes to be named “King of the Streets.” On Sat., Sept. 8, 18 different classes of motorcycles will line the Boardwalk starting at 11:30 a.m. to be crowned top in their class or to receive one of three Best in Show classes along with a cash prize.
Roar to the Shore is packed with pure entertainment from start to finish. Come and see for yourself how local officials, law enforcement, restaurant and bar owners, sponsors and rally attendees all come together to make Roar to the Shore one of the largest free motorcycle rallies on the East Coast!
