STONE HARBOR – The Borough of Stone Harbor opens its beaches in a unique way Fri., May 26, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. Mayor Judy Davies-Dunhour will welcome visitors from the air off the coast of 95th St. Beach!
Mayor Davies-Dunhour will be joined by members of Borough Council, the Stone Harbor Beach Patrol, elementary school children, community and local business owners.
“There is no better way for me to experience my inaugural beach opening ceremony, than with the pure excitement of viewing Stone Harbor’s stunning panoramic views by parasail, landing into the Atlantic Ocean, and being rowed to shore by New Jersey’s finest Beach Patrol to officially unlock the ocean with Captain Sandy Bosacco,” exclaimed Mayor Davies-Dunhour. “The Stone Harbor Beach Opening Ceremony is the first of many special events Stone Harbor will host this year. We are delighted that we will capture the essence of what it means to be part of this tremendous community from the air during our first annual event of the year!”
Immediately following the beach opening, all are invited to the Downtown Merchant Opening at 212 96th Street where the Stone Harbor Chamber of Commerce will highlight their events and goals for the 2017 season.
At 11:00 a.m., join Mayor Davies-Dunhour, Stone Harbor Borough Council, and Cape May County officials Freeholder Marie Hayes, Freeholder Jeffrey Pierson, Surrogate Judge, Susan Sheppard and Clerk of the Board, Elizabeth Bozzelli, as they celebrate the Grand Opening of the newest Cape May County Library Branch, the Stone Harbor Library.
“The Library Commission, Stone Harbor, the County and the Library staff worked hard to make the new Stone Harbor Library a wonderful and welcoming community gathering place. I’d like to thank everyone involved,” said Deborah Poillon, Director of the Cape May County Library.
The ceremonial welcome will be followed by all day presentations by the library’s Children’s Department including Story times, crafts and information on upcoming Summer Reading Events. All day events will also include the library’s Technical Learning Center (TLC) featuring 3-D printers and demonstrating other cool gadgets from their department.
The Stone Harbor Library will also be hosting children’s author Nancy Viau and memoir author Bhadrena Restione during the day.
Events held during the day will be demonstrations of Chair Yoga, Beginner Yoga, Zumba Gold, and Pilates Yoga when all will be invited to participate.
Brian Williamson of the Stone Harbor Wetlands Institute will be speaking about Turtle and Terrapins and Rebecca Horin will be demonstrating how to make healthy and refreshing Teas and Tonics.
Keep your eye out for our own library mascot, Clickety, who will be attending the grand opening as well!
