The Singer-Songwriter conference of Cape May will be held March 26-27 at the historic Congress Hall and select live music venues in Cape May.
The third annual conference and showcase will feature two afternoons of music business panels, workshops, mentoring sessions, and musical keynotes. Over 70 music industry professionals will participate as speakers and mentors at the conference.
At night, over 125 selected acts will showcase new music at Cape May bars and restaurants.
Registration is required for the conference but the showcase performances are free and open to the public.
The 2010 SS Cape May showcase venues are: Aleathea’s Restaurant at The Inn of Cape May, C-View Inn, Cabana’s On The Beach, Jackson Mountain Café, Lucky Bones, Marquis de Lafayette, Merion Inn, The Mad Batter, The Pilot House, Ugly Mug, Brown Room and Boiler Room of Congress Hall.
Highlights from the 2010 Singer-Songwriter conference include musical keynotes and concert performances from Nashville troubadour Steve Forbert on March 26 and Brooklyn based Nicole Atkins on March 27 from the Grand Ballroom of Congress Hall.
Music industry speakers include grammy award winning producers Joe Donofrio, Joe Tarsia, Phil Nicolo, Dick Gabriel from the American Federation of Musicians, Cape May native and Army of Freshman singer Chris Jay, Dr. E. Michael Harrington, William Patterson University and Bill and Kay Pere from the CT Songwriters Assn & Songwriting Academy.
Forbert is best known for his song “Romeo’s Tune,” which reached the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1980, and he was hailed as “the new Bob Dylan.”
New Jersey native Nicole Atkins burst onto the scene in 2005 and was signed to Columbia Records in 2006. “Neptune City” was released in the Fall of 2007 and debuted at #20 on Billboard Top Heat Seekers chart.
