Sea Isle City Beach Patrol Plans Ocean Swim

Swimmers are shown at the starting line and rushing into the ocean during a past 1-Mile Ocean Swim in Sea Isle City.

By Press Release

SEA ISLE CITY – The Sea Isle City Beach Patrol will host its annual One-Mile Ocean Swim July 20, at 11 a.m.
According to a release, this event is open to all competitive swimmers.
Swimmers from across the region are expected to compete in this open race.
The starting line for this box swim will be the water’s edge at approximately 61st Street, and the finish line will be in front of Beach Patrol headquarters on the 44th Street Beach.
If extreme currents run north to south on race day, the starting line will be switched to the 27th Street beach in an effort to have participants swim with the current.
Bus transportation to the start of the race will be available to registered participants.
Swimmers can pre-register online ($20 per person) until 11:59 p.m. July 18.
Race day registration ($35 per person) takes place July 20 between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.  Teams and clubs can pre-register online ($22 per person) until July 18 at 11:59 p.m. Race day registration for teams and clubs ($37 per person) takes place on July 20 between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.
There is no mail-in registration for this event.
High-quality event tee-shirts will be distributed to the first 250 registrants.
Trophies will be awarded to winners in various age groups.
The SICBP’s One-Mile Ocean Swim is a “rain or shine” event. However, an electrical storm or dangerous surf conditions will necessitate delaying the start time until later in the day.
If conditions do not improve, the swim will be canceled.  Weather cancellations will be announced on the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Entry fees are non-refundable even in the event of race cancellation.
Electronic chips will record each swimmer’s finishing time. Wet suits are permitted regardless of ocean temperature.
If there are more than 250 participants, the start of the race will be in two waves: one male and one female.
For more details, to register online or to download a race day entry form, go to www.sicbp.com and click the “Events” link on the home page.
