STONE HARBOR — Stone Harbor Elementary School’s eighth grade class recently returned from a three-day trip to THE nations’ capital. The students had many opportunities to combine learning and fun, according to a release.
Upon arriving in Washington, the group met with Congressman Frank LoBiondo (R-2nd) for pictures and a tour of the Capitol. Next they were off to the Holocaust Museum where they were able to integrate their literature class novels with the exhibits documenting the history of the Jewish people during the WW II era. Dinner and game time was spent at the ESPN Zone followed by a night tour of the famous monuments and Arlington.
Day 2 was kicked off at the Newseum where students were able to record their own broadcasts as well as tour one of Washington’s newest attractions.
The group made a brief stop at the National Geographic Society to view a special photography exhibit on animals and then it was off too intrigue and mystery at the Spy Museum. The students enjoyed burgers and music at The Hard Rock Café and then a slower pace while they viewed Star Trek at a local IMAX Theater.
Day 3 began with a tour of the Botanical Gardens and then on to the Air & Space Museum. The trip concluded with several hours at The Natural History Museum at the Smithsonian.
Each year the eighth grade class enjoys earning money and planning for this three day highlight of their final year at Stone Harbor School.
Lower Township – Who are these people that are obvious experts on trash cans and leaf pick-up? Maybe they don't have any trash to put out or leaves in their yard!!
