STONE HARBOR — After almost a year of contract negotiations and discussions, Stone Harbor Board of Education ratified a contract granting the educators of the Stone Harbor Education Association a 4.7 percent salary increase at its board meeting earlier this month.
Superintendent David Rauenzahn said the contract includes language with regard to if the school should close, merge or consolidate “because of uncertainty with the state.”
Negotiations mainly concerned money but there was also discussion on contingency plans for payments of unused sick leave and retirement plans in the event the school and district cease to exist, Rauenzahn said.
Kathy Schoenberger, co-president of the association, asked for a “fair, competitive contract” at the board meeting Sept. 10, 2008.
Six months later, the discussion was put to rest.
