St. Ann Flies American Flag From Kabul

By Herald Staff

Asleigh Wetzel, a sixth grade student in Ms. Marie Austin’s class at St. Ann’s Regional School, honored her school in a special way last week. Wetzel asked her Uncle Jason, who is serving in Afghanistan, if he could arrange to have the American Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan donate an American flag to the school.
Uncle Jason was recently home and presented the flag to Ms. Marie Austin’s class, along with a picture of the flag, flying over Kabul on Dec. 28, 2008. A certificate accompanied the flag, stating that it was donated “on behalf of the Marine Detachment and Regional Security Office at the American Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan.” St. Ann Regional School is grateful for the gift and plans to fly it proudly.
