Bishop McHugh
he boys varsity basketball team at Bishop McHugh Regional Catholic School recently won first place in the Atlantic Cape Catholic League playoffs held at Holy Spirit High School. The team also won the Atlantic Cape League Championship, Cape Atlantic League Championship, and the Optimist Tournament.

Cape May City
On March 9 The Turtlesingers visited the Cape May Elementary School. The Turtlesingers gave lots of information about turtles through song and pictures. They also talked about ways to help keep the turtles safe in their natural environments. Student volunteers were able to feed the turtles and help collect trash from a turtle. At the end of the presentation three turtles raced off a mat.
Cape May County Tech
The School Based Youth Services program located at the Cape May County Technical High School will be hosting its eighth annual Game of Life on Thur, March 17. There are 52 agencies that will be in attendance this year. Each year it is a powerful display of community support as our partners take time from their busy schedules to bring their information to the students in the Junior class of Cape May Tech.
This year Cape May Tech has extended their hospitality to welcome students from our neighboring school, Compact. The event is sponsored by the School Based Youth Services program which is a program of Cape Counseling Services funded by the Department of Children and Families. SBYS was awarded a $1,000 grant provided by Cape May County’s Human Services Advisory Council in order to support this event. Kindle Ford, PNC bank, Morey’s Piers, and Starbucks are the corporate sponsors.
The Game of Life is an interactive program to enhance student’s decision-making skills and also to increase their knowledge of and ability to access their community’s local resources. To play the Game of Life, students are given scenarios and asked to pretend that they have the situation outlined in the scenario. The student must then seek help with their assigned situation by contacting the agencies participating in the game. Role-playing scenarios will deal with challenges associated with adoption, substance abuse, teen pregnancy, childcare, violence, banking, employment, legal and psychological needs, etc. Agencies are given the opportunity to inform students as to how their agency may assist them and what steps the students will need to take to work through a situation.
Event is not open to the public. Press may arrive between 8:15 am and 11:30 am. Students will begin participating at approximately 9:00am.
On February 28, twenty-eight pupils from Cape May County Technical High School were inducted into the school’s James S. Kilpatrick National Honor Society. Membership requirements include a grade point average of 3.65, demonstrated leadership, service, scholarship, and character qualities.
Senior Inductees include: Uyen N.T. Diep and Steven Phillip Runyon.
Junior Inductees include: Sean Benson, Emily Bluhm, Aubrianna Borger, Andrew Conforto, Ashley Dermott, Sarah Doherty, Anastasia Green, Samantha Gurdgiel, Kerri Harrigan, Sydney Haas, Georgie Houseman, Edward Kane, Logan Laus, Olivia Lepor, Abigail Lynch, Victoria Marsden, Lily McDevitt, Mason McGrail, Jacqueline Payne, Caleigh Pirnik, Elizabeth Powers, Kyle Rutherford, Holly Schall, Tori Tomlin, Gabrielle Wolf, and Patrick Wood.
Honor Society members taking part were: President, Caroline Roth; Vice President, Katie Ferrante; Secretary, Shelby Haryslak; Treasurer, Hana Feulner; Historian, Amy DePietro; Member, Julianna McAnulty; and Member, Paul Popovick.
Mrs. Gina Tack is the advisor. Mr. David Billig, Cape Tech Distinguished Graduate, delivered the keynote address. Chef Dave Masterson, teacher of Culinary Arts Technology, and his students prepared hors d’oeuvres and Chef Robert Johnston, teacher of Pastry/Baking Technology, and his students prepared a cake for the new inductees and their parents to celebrate the occasion.
