Mrs. Richman’s 2nd grade class is learning to plant seeds of kindness around the Mitnick School. They made posters, sang a song to the school during a Bucket Bonanza and made Valentine’s Day cards for the Senior citizens at North Cape Nursing Home.

MT PTA announces the 2nd Annual Spring Bizarre to take place on April 20 at Elementary 1. Last year this event was at Elementary 2, a huge success, and the PTA hopes that the new location will provide even more exposure. The upcoming event will take place out doors on the field by the Administration Building and Wawa on Route 9. Spaces will cost $50.00. Look for more news to come!
West Cape May
West Cape May Elementary School held its annual Science and Inventors’ Fair on Feb. 11. Parents and the community were invited to view and discuss the projects with the children in grades Pre-K through Grade 6.
It was a busy day on Feb. 8 at West Cape May Elementary School. Not only did the third through sixth graders begin their exploration of alternative energy sources in the morning, but they also participated in the school-wide spelling bee in the afternoon. As part of the Atlantic City Electric Grant awarded to Mrs. Calabro and Ms. Stone, representatives of Solar Cambria visited to discuss the use of the sun as an alternative energy source and the placement of solar panels on the school’s roof. Later that day, the spelling bee took place. There were six participants representing grades 3 through 6. Judges included Lee O’Connor of the East Lynne Theater Co., Ms.Elaine Wallace, the West Cape May Borough clerk, and Michael Regosch, an area resident. The winner after 45 nail-biting rounds was fifth grader, Alex Roth.
Wildwood Catholic
Join us for Wildwood Catholic’s winter musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Performances are Saturday, February 23 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, February 24th at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12.
THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE is a hilarious tale of six young school kids, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime and a trip to nationals in Washington. A quirky yet charming cast of overachievers, for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time, will warm your heart, tickle your funny bone and perhaps teach you a valuable lesson; winning isn’t everything and losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser!
Also on Sunday the 24, enjoy a pasta buffet at Wildwood Catholic’s Annual Pasta Festival from 4-7:00 p.m. The price is $12.00 for adults and $6.00 for children under 11. Or better yet, go to the 2:00 p.m. show and the Pasta Festival for only $20.00.
Contact the school at 609 – 522 – 7257 for tickets and/or information.
