Cape May Tech
On a recent spring day, Ms. Gina Lanza, Ocean Academy special education teacher and Outdoor Experiential Education Program coordinator, walked her students a short distance to the Cape May County Technical School district. Ms. Hanna Toft, teacher of the Natural Science program of study, welcomed the group. Lanza and Toft planned and coordinated an educational experience for their students including an outdoor environmental marsh scavenger hunt, trail walk, and tour of the indoor laboratory/classroom.
The Ocean Academy students were individually assigned and mentored by a Cape May Tech Natural Science student. The indoor lessons included exploring the various fish species in each student’s tank and observing the reptiles and amphibians including turtles, snakes and lizards. The high school students explained each animal and how to safely handle them. The highlight of the lesson was seeing the baby chickens.
After the Tech students discussed a lesson on the marsh and water safety, the group went outside for a marsh scavenger hunt and trail walk. The activities were scheduled for a full week of morning and afternoon sessions. Across five days, a total of ten groups of Ocean Academy students participated in this learning event.

Cape Trinity Catholic
Cape Trinity Catholic recently performed ‘Dear Edwina’ to three packed shows. Students in the fourth – eighth grades auditioned for the play in late winter and rehearse for 8 weeks.
Mrs. Lisa DiBruno directs the annual production, music by Mrs. Pat Winans and piano accompaniment by Mr. Andrew Hink, band director at CTC. The Jennifer Ward Foundation is a generous supporter of the annual drama production and CTC is grateful for their support of the arts.
