School Days 5.28.14

By Herald Staff

Middle Township
This week 46 7th and 8th graders made their pledge and were inducted to the National Junior Honor Society. The first of its kind. Ms. Principal, Ms. Johnson, welcomed parents and family members in the Middle School where the ceremony took place.
“I wanted to start the NJHS because there are students in the middle school that are doing incredible things. Too often people hear about an isolated negative event and they think that defines our student body. That couldn’t be further from the truth. There are students who come to school every day and do the right thing. They excel academically and at the same time they give of their time and energy to the school community and also volunteer in a myriad of ways outside of school. I believe that these students deserve to be recognized for their accomplishments and all that they contribute to our school community,” explained Mrs. Lisa Mericle, advisor.
Students can’t rest on their laurels after being inducted. They are required to maintain their grades, continue to be involved in school and do community service projects through the MTMS chapter and independently.
