Cape Christian Academy
On October 17, Cape Christian Academy held their annual Storybook Parade, in culmination of a week devoted to reading. Grades PK through 6 dressed as their favorite storybook character, bringing with them a related book. And, per tradition, the students shared that special day with their pastors. Following the parade and student performances, pastors enjoyed a breakfast in their honor and in recognition of Pastor Appreciation Month.
Dennis Township
Dennis Township School District has both a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and a Home-School Association (HSA). Both have very unique roles in the district, yet they both involve supporting the students and teachers through collaborative efforts and volunteers.
The PTA is the fund-raising arm of the district. It is chartered through the National Parent-Teacher Association (NPTA) and is considered a not-for-profit. Through the PTA, teachers can receive classroom supplies, art supplies, music supplies such as CDs, and other necessary items to enhance classroom learning. Some of the fundraisers include coupon books for local business discounts, requests for specific classroom supplies, and gift cards for teachers to outfit their classrooms without using their own money.
The HSA works with the parents, teachers and community to enhance the overall educational experience by bringing the community together. They host events for parents and their children to simply enjoy an activity together such as Mother-Son Sports Night or the Daddy and Daughter Dance. They also are in charge of the General Mills Box Tops collection program.
Both organizations are crucial to the life of the district. The volunteers bring their expertise and enthusiasm to the schools. The teachers are very appreciative of the support both in and out of the classroom, and the students benefit with school supplies and seeing their parents as volunteers.
Please visit the district website to find out more about the PTA and HSA and perhaps find your niche in either organization. The website is http://www.dennistwpschools.org/resources.Wildwood Catholic High School
Wildwood Catholic High School has planned their Open House for prospective students for November 11, at 6:30pm. Kevin Quinn, Development Director for the school, is pleased to announce that in conjunction with the Open House the school will be culminating a drive that benefits the Veterans Home in Vineland. “As a school community we are currently collecting items such as gift cards, refreshments, toiletries, socks, batteries, and electronics that will be blessed on the evening of November 11th by Father Wallace”, said Quinn.
The items that are blessed will be delivered to the Veterans Home by a group of students and staff. Quinn added, “our goal is to celebrate the veterans of this great nation on November 11th by gathering as a school community, as well as, opening our doors for anyone interested in learning about all that Wildwood Catholic has to offer”. For more information about the Open House or how you can donate please call Wildwood Catholic High School at 609.522.7257.
